Here at Mankato we are all about hops, and we are dedicated to providing the very best hops and hop pellets for you. Whether you are a commercial brewer seeking a high quality product to support your brand, or a recreational brewer looking to take your hop-forward batches to the next level, you’ve come to the right place!
Mankato Farms is a small, family-owned hop farm located in New Carlisle, OH. Mankato was founded and is managed by homebrewers Tom Hoenie, Joe Pellegrino and their families with the intent of providing the best quality hops to Midwestern brewers. As homebrewers ourselves, we know that not all hops are created equal, and that hops grown and processed with patience and care yield superior beers. The love you put in is the love you get back. With the vast majority of domestically-sourced hops coming from the Pacific Northwest, we allow for a distinct advantage to both commercial and recreational Midwestern brewers by providing a product that is local, fresh, and of outstanding quality.
At Mankato we grow some of the more popular hop varieties. We offer our hops in both pound and four ounce parcels, vacuum-sealed in metallized packages to preserve freshness. Our hops are available in pellets as well as fresh, “wet” hops in limited quantities during August and September.
NEW for 2014 - Pelletized Hops! We are proud to offer pelletized hops, made in a Ohio Department of Agriculture certified food safe processing facility. All pelletized hops are tested to provide Alpha and Beta acids as well as other essential oil levels. Fellow hop farmers, if you're looking for a pelletizing source please contact us to discuss a possible partnership.
We grow and process the following varieties:
- Mt Hood
In addition to hops we also offer a variety of produce. For more information contact Tom Hoenie at email@example.com or 937-414-7543.
THE MANKATO DIFFERENCE
At Mankato Farms, our mission and purpose is to provide the best quality hops available. As a small farm, we are able to devote the time, care, and attention necessary to ensure that we are providing a superior product.
Our hops are carefully cared for by hand, disease tested and thoroughly pest scouted throughout the season to insure plant health and hop quality. We utilize a high velocity, ambient temperature process to dry our hops, as opposed to the high-volume, heated drying process utilized by the mega producers. Our slower and gentler process, while more difficult and time-consuming, results in a much higher preservation rate of the essential oils in hops yielding a top quality product. Pellets are made on site in a state certified food safe enviornment.
